Natural New Year's Resolutions: 90 days of living naturally.

Making strict resolutions can be really hard to stick to, and sometimes you try them and learn they actually aren’t correct for your lifestyle. To make your 2022 resolutions easy and fun we created a list of natural resolutions to TRY!

Implement one each week and at the end see which ones you loved and want to make part of your habits and which ones don’t quite fit your lifestyle.

January: Reducing Waste

  • Week 1: Shop low waste:

    • Instead of grabbing the mushrooms in the plastic container with wrap, use the brown paper bags.

  • Week 2: Bring reusable bags to the store:

    • For one week don’t let yourself use any plastic bags, only bring reusable bags and if you forget them, go back home and get them, buy some new ones, or only get the minimum amount of groceries.

  • Week 3: Shop locally for 70% of your groceries.

    • We know that sometimes you need something quickly or the local shops don’t have it. See what it’s like to get 70% of everything you buy locally!

  • Week 4: Save on water

    • In the United States, water is subsidized. Even though using extra water isn’t breaking the bank, it can be very wasteful. Find places where you can reduce your water waste.

February: Reduce Chemicals in Products

  • Week 5: Try natural soaps

    • Many soaps have chemicals in them that leave your skin dry. Your skin will thank you for switching to natural!

  • Week 6: Start reading labels and avoid the following chemicals:

    • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Triclosan, Formaldehyde, Benizsothiazolinone, Fragrance, Benzyl Ammonium Chloride, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Ammonia, Thymol, Phthalates

  • Week 7: Make a list of what can be replaced in your home for natural alternatives

    • Maybe you just bought a new frying pan that may have a chemical-additive. Don’t worry! You don’t have to throw it out. Instead, make a list of companies and products that do not use these chemicals. Next time you are at the store you’ll be able to quickly pick out a chemical-free alternative.

  • Week 8: Try chemical-free cleaning products

    • This can be a DIY product or something store-bought. Our favorite DIY cleaners are Water, White Vinegar, and your favorite Essential Oil. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how it gets rid of stains, grease, dirt, and odors, without any harmful chemicals!
