Keeping Baby Safe From Toxins At The Dinner Table

As a mom, I’m sure it’s safe to say that you want the best for your baby. You put in a lot of hard work to keep your baby safe and healthy. Part of that is what you feed your baby.

Many moms buy strictly organic fruits and veggie purees when it’s time for baby to finally get their first taste of solid foods. Others prefer to buy fruits and veggies and make the baby food themselves. And that doesn’t even include the moms who decide to do baby-led weaning.

But, no matter what or how you chose to feed your baby his or her first solids, all the work you to make sure they are getting the best could be going to waste if you are not serving the food in the right dishware and with the right utensils.

The market is flooded with adorable plates and bowls for babies. But it’s likely that if you use plastic, your dishware may be exposing your baby to harmful chemicals. (insert yikes face here)

I know, I know! You made sure when you bought your dishes that they were BPA-free. And that is great! But that doesn’t mean there aren’t other potentially harmful chemicals. PVC, phthalates, lead and other heavy metals, and PFAS chemicals are just a few chemicals that can be found in some plastic baby feeding products.
But there are tons of alternatives for plastic dishware that is just as cute and durable for the little ones going through the “throw everything on the ground” phase.

So what’s safe to use?

When you buy dishware and utensils for you babies, try to find dishes made of glass, wood, stainless steel, plant-based, or silicone.
